Do Re Mi...

After about 9 years of not translating musical notation to doremi notation, I realized that Indonesia is VERY resistant to the idea of learning to sing some other way. While I think it's redundant and totally unnecessary, other people don't see it that way. And being in the minority, I have to give in. It means... back to doremi for me. >_<
What bothers me most though, is the fact that I have tons of good songs that I would love to sing with my choir here, but it's not possible without translating it to doremi first. And since I hate manual dots and slashes, I decided to create a doremi font.
It's not perfect, but for those who are stuck with this fate, I hope it helps.

Download the DoReMi font here
Directions:
1234567 = works as usual
Shift + 1234567 = with dot on top
qwertyu = 1234567 with dot below
i = 1 with double dot on top
asdfghj = 1234567 with forward slash (up half step)
zxcvbnm = 1234567 with back slash (down half step)

Amigurumi: Mario Bros Mushroom

I found out that I had a stash of acrylic yarns left (in the storage), and so I was looking around for patterns/stuff I can use them for. I ended up finding Amigurumi , and of course the pattern I wanted uses the colors of yarns I did not already have. I ended up buying another stash of acrylic yarns in different colors. Thankfully, Zellers had it on sale. In any case, my first Amigurumi project was the Mario Bros Mushroom. I found out (too late), that I was doing the red part wrong. I crocheted from the back loop only, instead of from both loop. Hence, the "head" is taller than it's supposed to be. But since I didn't realize it until after the head was completed, I decided to leave it as it was. Mushy I gave this one to Chris, just because he wanted one. This became another addition to his "work buddies", as you can see below. Chris's "Work Buddies" But bad Chris! He made Mushy to be the bad guy (I think). Chris called this scene "

E-book Reader

I love reading. Specifically, I love reading fictions and mangas. Unfortunately, most mangas I like are not available in Canada. Fortunately, most of them are scanned and translated into English by their Japanese-reading fans. So there are lots of them online, if you know where to look for them. Having lots of manga jpgs means that I can collect the ones I like. But since they are not real books, it's kinda hard to re-read the mangas I have. I don't have a desktop, and the LCD monitor hurts my eyes once I stare at it for a long time. Knowing my addiction for books (and mangas), we did some research and decided to buy Sony Reader PRS-505 . Yup, I got the red one. The reader acts like a glossy-paper book. So even under sunshine, you can read it without difficulties (supposedly... I cannot test this with Vancouver's weather). Some people ask me why I don't buy Amazon Kindle . If you live in USA, you can search books on Amazon.com for free from anywhere (no wireless char
